Title: If you can’t afford to replace or repair your device yourself then do not go with asurion
Review: If you buy an Asurion plan with your Amazon Renewed product or even a brand new Amazon product and you think “Great this insurance will help if I can’t afford to buy this product all over again but I accidentally drop/ break this!” then you are mistaken. I bought a phone and the replacement plan considering that I might not want to buy the phone all over again if I break it or I might not have money to make repairs to it when I need them. Well, I started my claim, I sent all the documents over that Asurion insisted I needed, and I followed all of their instructions. They had me call in and confirm the product I needed repaired or replaced. This all went well until they told me I would have to go to a repair shop and come out of pocket, myself and pay for the repair and only after proving that I had the phone repaired would they reimburse me by check by mail. Everyone on the face of the Earth understands that the postal system is slow as hell as it is. And then a check by mail usually takes 7 plus business days. Not to mention that it doesn’t clear in your account on the day you put it in so I wouldn’t have access to those funds right away even if I needed them. I called the repair shops closest to my home and they all want no less than 250 to repair a phone that I could pay about that much to get another new one with no flaws on it at all. In fact, for 119 dollars with no screen damage at all, I could get a fairly good replacement of this exact model phone. So why on Earth would I pay for screen repairs for $250? The phone isn’t worth $250 anymore anyway. But that’s the minimum anyone will charge locally to replace the screen. I’m not doing that and I cannot afford to wait until Asurion processses my reimbursement check and sends it in the mail. I live paycheck to paycheck. I have bills. I have children. I have to buy food. You’ve got to be joking to think people pay for insurance so they can play hurry up and wait with their money. Not to mention I have a 30 dollar non-refundable deductible on top of the cost of the insurance. I would happily pay the stupid deductible if they would replace or repair my phone themselves. Why offer coverage if you want me to pay for it? It doesn’t matter that you offer reimbursement because people aren’t sitting on wads of cash waiting to make their own repairs if they get insurance. What’s going to end up happening is I am going to go to my cellphone company, get an outdated model of the iPhone that will be fine, get a case on it and pay my cellphone company for THEIR insurance and hopefully not ever have to deal with Amazon’s Asurion ever again. This was a waste of money. I 0/0 recommend this company or their scammy protection plans.

Title: Took care of cancelation fast
Review: This product was insurance, never had a chance to use it as the cell phone was powered by T Mobile and the signal was not strong enough for my rural area to make anything but emergency calls, on the other hand evidently you only want positive reviews, I had a negative review for the cell phone seller, they charged an extravagant re-stocking fee and i had to pay $26.00 for taxes, on what I can’t figure as I received no product. I know you won’t publish this review but you should know how much restocking fee is being charged, $80.00 + dollars is too much plus charging for taxes when I returned the product.

Review: My wife dropped her phone, and somehow the mother board was damaged. I took it in, they couldn’t fix it and I received my refund super quick. Loved the service so much, I bought another plan for her replacement phone, and for my new phone.

Title: Understand the Plan & Be Ready to Wait
Review: You can’t really get a decent accident plan at a good price. Given the cost (about 20% of purchase) its really a good plan for the $$ especially for full Accident protection. But… its can beva pretty big hassle to get the claim done. Don’t be in any rush to get your phone fixed or replaced. Its a slow process (not so much on the low cost phones) and they push a repair reimbursement first before replacement. If you can deal with the waiting (have a 2nd phone ready to switch to) then its definitely worth the cost to have the protection on a high risk product like a cell phone. Understand what it is and how it works. Its still better than those month to month plans that only pay off if it breaks right away.

Title: Terrible service, terrible customer service.
Review: This plan is unlike any insurance plan I’ve had for a phone before and I am extremely dissatisfied. I filed a claim for a cracked screen on my phone. I was instructed to bring my phone to their repair place so they could look at it and decide if it could be repaired or if it needed to be replaced. The associate told me it would be a simple repair, but that Asurion didn’t actually even give them that option, and that the phone would have to be replaced. They wanted me to wipe my phone, hand it over, wait a few days and then get sent the funds to purchase a new phone, which I would then have to wait for it to arrive. So they wanted me to be without my phone (which I use for work and volunteer work) for who knows how many days, at least 3-5. They also wanted it wiped, which means there’d be no way for me to ensure my data all transfered to the new phone. No other plans I’ve ever had had required me to send my phone before I have a replacement in hand. When I spoke to customer service, the agent was completely unsympathetic and just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. He finally spoke with someone on the back end while I was on hold for 10+ minutes, and came back to offer me the option of taking the phone to a different repair shop of my choice and sending in my receipt for reimbursement, which would take 2+ weeks to come to me as a check via mail. It makes no sense that they would offer that option but not allow their own repair shop to just fix my phone. This service is a waste of money. I am doing all of the work myself, paying for it up front, waiting around for them to pay me back, and I’ve already wasted time going to their repair shop and arguing with their customer service. The hassle and the options they offer for taking care of my phone make this service absolutely not worth paying for. I will not purchase a plan from them again and suggest others do not as well. Since this has happened, I have researched the company and it appears they have numerous complaints and run an overall shady operation.

Review: Haven’t needed this coverage yet, however, previously needed coverage for other items and the response was excellent. Most likely will always chose Assurion coverage.
