   Amazing camera quality!
   This camera is amazing! I set it up outside to watch over our pool with the motion detection – setting up was a breeze and the image quality is wonderful. Connecting to wifi and detection functionalities easy peesy! Makes me worry less but still be able to see everything.

While it doesn’t come with a solar panel like some competitors, it boasts a decent-sized internal battery and a range of functionalities that add to its appeal.The battery life is one area where the Toucan camera could use some improvement. While the seller optimistically claims up to three months of standby use, my experience fell far short of this mark. In reality, I found that the battery lasted closer to three weeks, even with many of the additional features turned off. This discrepancy suggests that pairing the camera with a solar panel might be necessary for those who prefer not to charge it frequently. However, the logistics of setting up a solar panel can be challenging, especially if the mounting spot for the panel is far from the camera.Despite the battery life, the camera excels in other areas. It’s designed to be mounted outdoors and has proven to withstand various weather conditions thanks to its IP65 weatherproof rating. The two-way audio and night vision capabilities are particularly useful, allowing me to communicate with anyone at the door and monitor my property even in low light conditions. Additionally, the integration with Google Home Assistant is seamless, and the accompanying app is user-friendly.One significant issue I encountered was with the app’s masking feature. Ideally, this feature allows you to mask certain areas of the camera’s field of view to avoid constant alerts from irrelevant movements. However, the Toucan camera’s masking functionality leaves much to be desired. It didn’t allow me to easily exclude specific areas, resulting in frequent alerts for minor movements that I would have preferred to ignore.Mounting the camera is straightforward, thanks to the quarter-inch screw mounting bracket. The setup process was quick, and the camera feels secure once installed. Another positive aspect is the camera’s flexibility regarding subscriptions. While it offers more features and better functionality with a paid subscription, it’s still quite capable without one. This flexibility is a significant advantage for those who prefer not to commit to ongoing costs.In summary, the Toucan 2K Security Camera Wireless Outdoor is a reliable and efficient security camera with several strengths, particularly in its ease of use, weatherproof design, and integration with smart home systems. However, the less-than-ideal battery life and subpar masking feature detract from its overall performance. For those willing to manage these minor inconveniences, the camera provides a robust security solution without the need for a subscription. With a few improvements, it could easily become a top contender in the wireless security camera market.

   Perfect for my use
   Why did you pick this product vs others?:everything was easy to set up ,I put it in my window for added security for my front yard ,I haven’t had any issues with it it works really well I’m still trying to figure out some of the functions it has.but the main thing was getting it set up and that was a breeze,it I charge it every 3 days so the battery life lasts .it does alert me when there is movement and that’s a plus for me.its very app friendly.

   Not as good as the old ones
   This will be a long review, bear with me.I have two of the original (white) outdoor Toucan cameras. I bought two of these to potentially replace/add on to our security cameras. There’s nothing wrong with the old ones, but they’re a bit outdated and go off frequently no matter what you tweak.Anyway, got the new cameras, and was immediately put off by the fact that I seemed to have received a used camera. The lens was really scratched right out of the box, whereas the second one I got had a seal over the glass like you’d expect with new.Let them charge all the way, then went through setup, which was different from the originals, and took a very long time to complete (you have to get it to scan a QR code on your phone and hold still).Put them outside in two different places while my originals charged for the month. This was around 5pm on a sunny day. The first thing I noticed was that the color was off on both cameras, no matter where the sun was positioned. Everything was yellowish? I later tested this inside as well with the same results.The second thing I noticed is that once it got slightly darker (not fully dark), the night mode kicked in and everything was in black and white. This is unusual since I kept the settings the same as my old cameras (night mode on auto, same movement areas blocked, blah blah). It wasn’t dark at all and my normal cameras very rarely ever have night mode on unless the light source gets covered. The only way to keep it in color was to turn night mode off completely. This was not ideal in the location away from my lit porch.The final, and most significant thing I noticed, was the battery life.I fully charged these. I had them charging while I was setting them up. I had them limited to certain motion areas, and they were rarely triggered the whole time they were active. I had them outside for a grand total of 5 hours and they went from 100% to 70% battery life for no discernable reason.This is absolutely ridiculous for a brand new item, and one that’s supposed to be outside without a power source for an extended period of time. For this reason alone, these will be returned. If it’s using that much power in a few hours with reduced settings, this won’t even go a few days without charging.For perspective, I can go 3-6 weeks in-between charges on my old cameras, even when they’ve been triggered a ton.I’m not sure what happened with Toucan products, or if luck was against me with both that I bought having the same issues, but I’m going to personally be looking into a different brand.

   Budget Friendly Yet High Quality
   This is a great, budget friendly security option. It’s very easy to set up the app and connect the camera, and the video is really great quality. The apps runs very smoothly as well and has tons of functions to ensure full coverage! Highly recommend.

   Set up connection process was impossible
   After spending 3 hours trying to set up and connect the camera, I returned the item. The instructions in the box are vague and when you get on the App to try and do the set up, the instructions in the box do not match the App. Finally got a chat person from their help desk, but he pretty much gave out generic instructions that had nothing to do with the set up and where to go in the app to get the set up done. Very frustrating and not user friendly at all.
