Arlo is the best, so far
Arlo is Arlo. I have been happy with them for years, but then again, I am not cheap and I pay for a subscription. If you are worried about that, then I dunno what to tell you. For me, it is totally worth it because I have multiple cameras. What is your other option, anyhow? I have tried the systems that have their own central recording station, the POE ones… The tech was not there. Arlo… the tech is there. The ease of use is there. That is why I stick with it. The app works, it is easy to use. IMO you get what you pay for. The subscription is worth it if you don’t want to fuss around with all the others out there.

Unreliable Feed event records
I bought Arlo after being a long time nest and now google nest customer. I grew tired of the google nest delays when viewing feeds. Arlo has great reviews online and the camera quality and battery life are both very good. Getting to live feed is reasonably quick. Unfortunately, the feed shows one or two events out of a confirmed 10 to 12 events. In the day I bought it, the app announced many events but did not show any in the feed. After being on hold for 20 mins with their high value support center overseas, I’m told it’s a known issue. After 24 hours, the feed started working again and my support ticket closed. However. The problem persists. My phone shows an animal was seen in the camera am5n ago, but clicking the announcement goes to device. Click on the device and you see live video. Go to the feed and there is no mention of anything being seen for hours. I’ve stepped in front of the camera and yet nothing shows in the feed. How they offer monitoring on such an unreliable feed is beyond me. Until or unless they improve the backend server, I recommend you keep looking.

The Arlo Pro 5S 2K Spotlight Camera impresses with its high-resolution video, advanced motion detection, color night vision, and smart home integration, making it a robust security solution. However, its high bandwidth usage, shorter battery life, reliance on a strong internet connection, and potential ongoing costs for cloud storage may be drawbacks for some users. As long as you can follow along with the video in the app, installation is a breeze! Although it can be tricky if you aren’t tech savvy and handy with tools. Overall the performance is A1, especially the zoom in on the license plates, but the battery life isn’t what I’d hoped. & mine does lag a tiny bit. But I do recommend!

I have the pro 3 purchased from Costco a few years ago, cameras work well, needed a little update for the front yard, this camera works well and the 2K resolution has sufficient detail.Again Good Wireless Camera, about 40′ of reasonable signal through walls. 50+ feet (direct line of sight).

Purchased Arlo door bell and older model eccential camera . Models all have major issues picking up movement in custom zones set up by your own settings. The 5s camera when power levels drop to 10% Constantly triggering text message alerts very far outside of your custom set up zones . In turn degrading battery life to three days even when hooked up to Arlo optional solar panel that is in a sunny area most of the day. BTW solar panel charging plugs are different types between both camera . Have to purchase different ones. One is magnetic other is micro usb . Also found night vision much better in the lower cost older eccential camera. The 5 s is much newer and 2 megapixel but performance much lower than the older eccential model. Called customer support tech but seem to be perplexed as to why and did not offer any answers so far . The paid subscription AI picking up cars driving down the street and interpreting them as animal movement in alerts . They still have a long way to go with software issues .
