Great wild life camera
This camera has made shooting wild life easy. With the ability to shoot 40 frames a second and .5 second pre capture I have gotten some almost impossible shots of owls an eagles taking off that I could not have gotten before. Also, the autofocus is so good that I get 98% of my photos in focus. The only issue I have is it shoots a lot of photos in a short period of time and you have to go through them. Not the cheapest, but great camera.

Low light and speed monster.
Still learning my new camera, however so far, I am impressed mostly with:1. The low light performance.2. The speed at which it operates (Autofocus and the camera itself).3. The tons of Customization possibilities! Wow!4. Ergonomics (I was using the R5 in the past and I couldn’t get used to the buttons packed too close together). With the R1 it’s not the case. Ergonomics is great!5. Connectivity – so many ways to control the R1 and download/upload your files…Small disappointments:1. Multifunction hot shoe is protected with that clumsy thing… hard to remove.2. You have to use a separate adapter to be able to use PRO Canon Speedlights (like EL-1 for example).3. Although it has plenty of customization features, I found out that some useful functions cannot be customized the way I would want. For example: choosing between electronic and mechanical shutter cannot be assigned to the Quick Menu button (Q button)… or – in fact – to any other custom button.Overall – still, an amazing camera!

Wow!
A beast of a camera. Don’t let the 24 megapixels concern you. It creates beautiful images even when cropped. Lots and lots of features, buttons and capabilities. Continuous shoot mode is incredible for birds in flight. Pricey but really good!

Plastic framed trash … Pretty sure it doesn’t hold up well
Plastic, feels CHEAP, strap is smaller than last Gen also, it’s like canons penny pinching and gone the way of Wal mart. The plastic body means that when it gets scratched n scuffed it stays scratched n scuffed. No more plastic protective coating or aluminum frame. I feel like I might have wasted $6,800 … Quite possibly the r3 is the same gimmicky plastic … But at 2 grand less won’t feel like such a rip off … My previous model 1dx was put through the ringer …I’m not at all excited about this body or the screen … Will update with results but with this body I’m for sure it won’t hold up well

Just Awesome
If you don’t absolutely need more than 24 megapixels, this camera delivers in every single way. Yes, it’s super fast, but it’s so much more. I’ve found the auto focus to live up to the hype and the real world image quality is outstanding. I’m getting better shots easier than with any other camera I have used, including the R3 and R6 mark II… in every type of photography. Not just sports and wildlife. I love this camera.
