    Great lens!!
What a great lens!! Fast and clear results. Beautiful resolution and a perfect mate to my Z8.

  2. M. Mackenzie

    Good for larger birds
Great lens, heavy but has great sharpness

    Best (affordable) Lens Ever
Don’t walk, RUN to buy this lens! It is the best affordable lens I’ve ever had, better than the Nikon 200-500 that I was using for five years with the D500. Had to switch to mirrorless for the overall weight factor. This lens works perfectly on my Z50II camera, picks up details I’ve never seen before.

    Really great value
I’ve been very impressed with results from this lens. No, it is not the fastest at focusing – particularly if you’re going full near/far range. But it is plenty quick and sure on modern cameras (Z6iii,8,9). But it is the best value option that covers that 200-400 range and, best part, that value comes with remarkably few compromises. Recommended. Would be ‘highly recommended’ but it’s getting fairly old and I’m guessing Nikon will update it soonish.

  5. Courtnay C.

    A photographer’s dream lens.
Nikon has hit this one out of the park. This lens is very sharp.

  6. Angel

    Nikkor 100-400 mm lens review
Images from this lens are very clear and vivid in color with negligent distortion.

  7. AmazonRick

    Excellente
This is my “zoo zoom ” and it works very well for that purpose. Quite sharp and useful.

  8. Fabian Joya

    Great lens, with two drawbacks
This lens is sharp. It’s sharp wide open at all focal lengths. Some say it’s slightly less sharp at 400mm, but at least at long distances, I am unable to see the difference.Rendering is a little flat, it doesn’t quite have the punchy contrast of Nikon’s best lenses. But it is a big zoom after all.The lens does however have two drawbacks:1) The zoom ring is out front, making this lens hard to handle. I use the control ring, and constantly move back and forth between the two, which requires big jumps with my hands. Worse, the focus ring lies in between, and I bump it all the time. IMO the focus ring should be up front, and the zoom in the middle, like on the 24-120/4. Most users will pair this lens with the 24-120, and then you have to constantly context switch when you switch lenses.2) The tripod foot & collar. You have to rotate it out of the way to use this lens. And the collar is not detachable, so even without the foot you still have the collar with a sharp foot attachment and the fastening knob to contend with. A detachable collar would have been a much better solution – AND it would save on weight when hand-holding the lens.

  9. Samya Yassin

    Sharp!!!

  10. Coffee Nut

Great lens, nice and sharp. Recommended.

  11. Smackioio

One of the best lens on the market, a bit heavy but still the lightest on the market. Definitely needs a tripod, but pictures taken without one are also good quality. Whether you take Moon shots or wildlife or anything else, this lens is a must have. Paired with a TC 2.0 teleconverter and getting a 200-800mm lens by only losing 2 stops (so going to f/9). Has two useful rings, one for focus and one for the aperture change, display on top (OLED) and two Fn buttons. Really amazed at the details and clarity you get with this lens. Took a hand held shot at 400mm @ 1/60 without issues.

  12. Robin Alexander

I was shocked at the quality of images this lens produced. I was a bit dubious at first as it is not a fast lens however wanted the versatility of a zoom to complement my fixed focal telephoto lens. I was very pleased. It is lightweight and easily handholdable.

  13. Wilfredo RodrĂguez

This lens is like having several prime lenses at the same time, the vibration reduction is incredible and it is smaller than I thought.
