Customers say

Customers find the security camera works well, with sharp and clear video quality and good build quality. They appreciate its ease of setup and consider it good value, with one customer noting it provides local recordings without a monthly fee. The tracking capability receives mixed feedback – while AI detection works well for some, others find it terrible. Wi-Fi connectivity is also mixed, with some reporting strong signals while others experience weak connections.

10 reviews for REOLINK 4K Outdoor Plug-in WiFi 6 Security Camera, PTZ Camera for Home Security, Wi-Fi 6 New Tech, Motion Tracking, Smart Detection, 3X Optical Zoom, Motion Spotlight, Local Storage, E1 Outdoor Pro

  1. Ed

Great Outdoor (and indoor) Cam with Excellent Image Quality!
I’ve had the Reolink E1 Pro for a while with zero issues, so I decided to try the E1 Outdoor Pro—and it’s definitely a step up in image quality. Even though it has the same bitrate as the E1 Pro, the image quality hasn’t taken a big hit at all. The video is sharp and clear, even in low light, and it’s been rock solid running 24/7.I’m actually using it without the mount, just sitting upright on my window sill in the bedroom. I wanted something 4K with wired connectivity, and it’s working great as a window cam facing outside. Just make sure to turn off the IR LEDs in the app—if you leave them on, they’ll cause a glare on the window and make it impossible to see anything at night.I honestly don’t understand why this camera has only a 4.2 rating. It might be because I always hardwire my Reolink cameras to the network instead of relying on Wi-Fi. With a wired connection, I’ve had minimal false alerts, and once you take the time to configure the motion sensitivity settings properly, the camera is super reliable. It’s been a great addition to my setup, and I haven’t had any issues with connectivity or software glitches. For the price and performance, this camera is a no-brainer if you’re looking for solid versatile security.

    Easy, simple, and just works.
Great camera. Not sure about the negative reviews, they all mostly seem like user / settings issues. Super easy set up, Have one out back in California, holds up to random weather and connects pretty easily, been using reolink for a couple years never had any issues with the 100+ ive deployed.

  3. Eli

    Just OK.
The image quality is excellent in the day and night (with or without active lighting). I have close to a dozen security cameras in my home and I would rate this as average. My problems with it are:* the slew speed is terribly slow. Panning from one spot to another takes forever and people cannot be tracked unless they were more than 20 feet away.* the gimble cannot look down. In fact, it can only look down 45 degrees or so from my estimate.* the power and ethernet port are conjoined as one tail connected to the camera. It leads to a bunch of wires outside and can’t install cleanly.

Incredible AI detection, critical Alerts feature is clutch! My review after 6 months of use…
I tried several cameras before deciding on using this version from Reolink. The key features that I was looking for: crystal clear high quality footage, local recordings without a monthly fee, reliably detect motion, and notify me on my iPhone even if I put it in “Do Not Disturb” or silent mode (thanks to the Critical Alerts feature on iOS). This camera not only meets all of my requirements, but it is even BETTER than I hoped! I am VERY impressed that this camera could detect the difference between moving objects in the footage (ALL animals, vehicles and humans) without needing to be connected to a cloud service. This camera can even detect free roaming chickens! Needless to say, the AI detection works very well and gives you the option to track/follow moving objects and tweak the sensitivity/range of detection to your needs.Additionally, there is a PC app available so you can view live and recorded footage and access all configuration settings right from your desktop (Windows 10/11). AND, if you don’t want to rely solely on recording video to a micro SD card for local storage, this camera is capable of connecting to your local NVR/DVR via ONVIF! Although I am recording my video locally to a 128gb micro sd card, I also have the camera connected to my main Amcrest NVR system for backup. As far as weaknesses go, I would say that sometimes when playing back footage directly from the micro SD card, the iOS app is laggy, but I believe that might be due to the SD card speed and/or my poor Wi-Fi connection. To remedy this, I may purchase a Reolink Hub to use as my “offline” private cloud, and hopefully they eventually make their entire system Matter-certified so that I can connect everything to my home automation system. After my positive experience with their camera, I feel like this company is very promising, so I hope to add-on more Reolink products to my home in the future!

You were supposed to be the chosen one 😭
DO NOT BUY: FIVE STAR REVIEW GIVEN TO ENSURE PEOPLE SEE THIS REVIEW. AVOID THIS CAMERA AT ALL COSTS.I had an E1 Outdoor 2K for 3 or so years, and it was a godsend. It worked day and night and kept my family safe. Sadly, the new E1 Pro Outdoor is an embarrassment to its predecessor. I have ordered 3 E1 Pros and shouldn’t have. The first one worked for a month, then the pan-tilt function failed. I ordered a second one that seemed to work better, but guess what? More of the same—the pan-tilt failed again. Now, after much debate, my order for a third one arrived today, and I haven’t even opened it yet. I’m about to send it back along with my other two. Why is this camera so awful? Is there no quality control?I have had the Reolink Outdoor 2K camera outside for almost 3 years without issue. I upgraded to the E1 Outdoor Pro, and it failed in under a month. I returned it, got a replacement, and the new one seems like it is about to have the same issues. The PT function is clearly the problem. It works well for a bit, then struggles to move. What design change turned this once-reliable camera into an abysmal paperweight? I don’t mean to be rude, but it is quite concerning. Reolink has saved me many headaches in the past, and I want to continue supporting the company. However, as it stands now, I feel that I will have to search for an alternative sooner rather than later. Are there others out there who have experienced this same problem? I can’t be alone. Is Reolink going to become the next Wyze? Because if so, I’m jumping ship

I have this camera mounted above my front door and really like how it can identify people and animals, seperate from basic motion. Our house is well elivated from the road, and the PTZ feature lets me swivel it around and look out over the neighbourhood and roadway.Update – I’ve now bought a 2nd one of these to cover a different part of my property. Really like this camera!

  7. Leah

Great product at a great price, wanted to add another camera to my home assistant system and as expected the reolink cam integrated easily, exposed a variety of settings and controls in haos easily and all work well. My only complaint is the mounting bracket for the wall is a bit finicky, make sure it’s snug when clipping the camera into the holder, I had some mounting stability issues because the cam wasn’t entirely snug and the cam almost fell at installation time because of the mounting clip not being fully engaged. Take your time and ensure the cam is snug.

  8. mohammad

Great product, it’s work properly in the minus 35 (-35’C) outside without any issue.Night vision is perfect and no delay for motion detection notification.

Disappointing Experience with REOLINK PTZ 4K CameraAt first glance, the packaging was well-done, but unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ends. Here’s a breakdown of the issues with this product, both in software and hardware:Software:The Reolink app is poorly designed and chaotic. The interface lacks logic, making navigation unnecessarily confusing. A major drawback is the absence of a practical feature like the **EUFY app’s thumbnail preview** of detected faces alongside video playback with timestamps. This omission feels like a missed opportunity to deliver a user-friendly experience.Hardware:1. **Motor Performance:**The motor is simply terrible. Pressing “right” often results in the camera moving left, and its movements overshoot frequently. The up-and-down motion is inconsistent and is affected by the poorly placed SD card slot cover if the rubber seal is properly pushed down. For a PTZ camera, this level of performance is unacceptable.2. **4K Streaming Quality Issues:**While the camera claims to be 4K (8MP), achieving that resolution requires setting the stream to “clear” with the highest frame rate. Even then, the feed is riddled with issues. The screen frequently splits into white and multicolored sections, with flashing purple or pink glitches disrupting the view. Lowering the resolution to 4MP (2K) seems to be the only way to avoid these problems, but that defeats the purpose of purchasing a 4K camera. For the price—even at a Black Friday discount—this is a deal-breaker.3. SD Card Placement:The placement of the SD card slot is an absolute design failure. Removing the card is nearly impossible without special flat tweezers. This poor design decision reflects a lack of practical user testing or consideration for ease of use.4. Build Quality and Manufacturing:This model, manufactured by **Shenzhen Bilian Electronic Co., LTD**, shows a stark quality disparity compared to other Reolink models like the TrackMix W760. The inferior craftsmanship is apparent in every aspect of its construction. Conclusion:This product fails to meet basic expectations for both hardware and software. From its erratic motor to the glitchy 4K performance and poorly designed SD card slot, it seems rushed and unrefined. While it’s clear some cost-saving measures were taken in manufacturing, the overall experience reflects poorly on Reolink’s quality control. I cannot recommend this product, even at a discounted price.

  10. Questionnaire

Customer service is poor for warranty claims. The pan function failed in 7 months. The camera would not pan to one side. Got in touch with customer service. I got a run around for days updating firmware several times for a camera that clearly had a mechanical problem with the pan mechanism. All this considering that a manual firmware update was required for the latest update, and the camera is installed at a height. I finally got in touch with warranty, and now they want me to pack the camera, and ship it out at my expense and then once the shipment is on the way to send me replacement. Very poor customer support and warranty. For a security camera that is monitoring someone’s property the proper thing to do is to send a replacement, make sure that it works and then for the customer to send back the defective product with prepaid shipping. I have several of their cameras and an NVR and now I am regretting my decision. The 2 stars is for the overall quality of their cameras.
