Great Monitor. Some software and documentation defects.
I received this monitor today, February 20, 2023. It is the 43″ M70B (Model: S43BM702UN ).It was manufactured in February 2023 in Mexico, not Vietnam, so it was born less than 20 days ago.Jerry wrote a great review. I’ve read the manuals. I’ve got two problems and one inconvenience.Problem 1) My webcam works with the monitor, but when I set it to be used by the computer attached to the USB-C, it doesn’t work.Problem 2) My Logitech MK850 Bluetooth keyboard/mouse will not connect. The monitor finds them, but when I select “Pair,” nothing happens, and after a minute or so, the settings software exits, apparently having failed. I hope a software update fixes it soon.Inconvenience 1) When I’m using it as a streaming TV, there is no quick way to switch it back to the PC. A “source” button on the remote would be nice. So far, the best way I’ve found is to open settings, navigate to connections, and select PC. It’s about four more remote control clicks than it should be and challenging to explain to my wife. The documentation does not mention the microphone. There is one, but where is it? Some specs would be nice. Also, there are no specs on the built-in sound. It sounds pretty bad to me, but I’ve got a pretty good setup on the TV/Music system I use most often.4/7/2023 UPDATE: The problems with the Bluetooth keyboard/mouse and camera connections have disappeared. The current firmware update is 1470.08/30/2023 UPDATE: I connect it via USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 10 Gbps cable to a Dell XPS 13 7390 2-in-1. After a few weeks, the computer no longer recognized the additional display. The monitor attached camera and keyboard/mouse continued to work through the USB cable.Thankfully, there is a three-year warranty. I called Samsung Tech Support. We went through all the diagnostics I had already done. The lady pronounced the monitor defective and scheduled a technician to come to my home (from 100 miles away). He had some special remotes with him, allowing him to do a deeper manufacturer’s reset than the retail customer can do with the standard remote. The monitor worked for a couple more weeks, and then it failed again in the same way.I called tech support, and they offered me a full refund. At this point, I ordered the same monitor again from Amazon. It was delivered in a day, but I decided to wait to take it out of the box until my refund was in the bank. The logistics company sent their truck from over 100 miles away to pick it up. I did not box it and returned the power cord, USB-C cable, and remote. I forgot about the high-speed HDMI cable that comes with it. The drivers had appropriate packing material with which they repacked it. I got my refund direct-deposited within three days after the monitor was picked up.The two guys picking it up told me they had a great job. They drove around with a mostly empty truck, and the company would pay for their meals and hotels while they were on the road for customer returns. This process took many hours of my time and was over two months. I was past the 30-day return period for the second monitor before the money was in the bank, and I opened the box and set it up.When I set up the new monitor, it HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OLD MONITOR! Yikes! what was I to do? I wanted to avoid calling Samsung Tech Support and going through the same two-month-long process again. Here’s what I learned from the Samsung User Forums and other places.1) Others have had similar problems, but the computer recognizes the second display but the monitor does not get the display signals back from the computer. My problem was that the computer did not recognize the second display.2) The installation instructions say to connect the monitor and computer BEFORE you plug in the power to the monitor. They aren’t kidding.3) Others have had success by buying a higher quality 1 M USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps (or better) cable. ~$20. I bought one but have not had to use it.4) I solved the problem by shutting down the computer, leaving it connected to the M7 Monitor with the supplied USB-C cable, and unplugging the monitor for at least two minutes. Then I plugged power into the monitor and turned on the Dell XPS.Also, the M7 only auto-updated the firmware to version 1470. I did a manual install of the latest firmware from the Samsung support site, and it was updated to version 1520.7. I have yet to notice a difference.I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this monitor keeps working because it’s great for the price.9/2/2023 The four-year-old Dell XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 was not recognizing a Logitech camera USB-2 attached to the M7, and I could not get the Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse to connect to the M7, I was using the Logitech dongle instead. The M7 manual firmware update to 1520.7 has fixed the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse connection. I checked Dell Update and discovered eight major updates, including firmware, to the four-year-old Dell XPS 13 7390 2-in-1. After updating, the camera recognition problem was fixed. Also the M7 seems to act more like a regular monitor. I only need to use the monitor’s remote to use the Smart features, I don’t need it basic monitor function. I started putting the monitor to sleep instead of running it 24/7 with a screen saver. I hope the USB-C connection remains stable. It’s a great little monitor if you get past all the little niggling bugs.

Best monitor I’ve ever have
I was looking for a second Computer monitor to watch live tv while working at home for 9+ hours every day ( Basically Youtube Tv live college and pro football, soccer, ID and Oxygen channels), first I tried an ASUS Tuf (Bad idea for the purpose and returned, it had some dead pixels anyway ), then I bought a Samsung 32 UJ59 that never came home (Refunded), as they said that the 3rd one in the lucky one, I tried to carefully decide which one to get next (between LG 32 ul500-W, Dell S3221QS and This Samsung 32 M70B-2022.) LG and Dell have excellent reviews and great scores everywhere I looked and without any doubt they will be excellent choices, but at the end and despite the awful reviews this monitor has on Amazon I decided to give it a try, crossed my fingers and ordered it.It came yesterday, to my surprise it was love at first sight so I configured the complete hardware side by side with my working 32 inches monitor ( LG 32 QN55T-QHD but excellent to work for 9 hours without eye strain with the right settings) and turned it on, The factory picture settings was so bad that I was about to return it (I’m letting you guys know cause i could not find this information anywhere) It was so bright, pixelated, ugly, terrible, (IDK what else to say) that I almost give up, I’m glad I didn’t.I googled on how to tweak the picture settings without any luck, but I found the following related to the M8, a cousin of this one, and it worked so good that i’m impressed with this monitor. Tweaks are:Picture mode: Graphic. (16:9 standard size)Eye Care : all settings off*Expert settings:Brightness: 25Contrast: 38Sharpness: 10Colour: 32Tint (G/R): R3Apply picture settings (not available)Picture Clarity settings (not available)Contrast Enhancer: OffColour tone: StandardWhite balance: 2 pointR-gain: -6G-gain: 0B-gain: 0R-offset: 0G-offset: 0B-offset: 0Gamma: 2.2Shadow detail: 5Colour space settings: AutoDynamic brightness: enabledGeneral and privacy settings (main menu)Intelligent mode settings: OnPower and energy saving: Brightness optimization onMinimum brightness: 10Brightness reduction: offMotion lighting: offScreen saver: onAnd that’s it. It was magic, so amazing picture, colors, everything, I could not be happier for now.BTW, and even when it has all the streaming apps I need like another Tv, I have tried Streaming devices thru HDMI too cause unfortunately I could not find any good review about it, Apple Tv 4K 2021, shown as Unknown, no good picture quality in 4K HDR, match content on/off same, better picture quality in 4K SDR, but not worth it.Nvidia Shield tv pro: shown as Nvidia so it was recognized, Both remotes work excellent back and forth (Volumen, on/off) for some reasons that I cannot explain (I’m not a professional on this) picture quality is amazing on 4K HDR at 59 something HZ, taken by default for the streaming device, same for 4K SDR and 1080PI don’t have time to test Google chromecast with TV or Amazon Fire stick 4K plusI’m extremely happy with this purchase, fingers crossed that nothing happens in the future and I can enjoy it for a long time, I’ll keep you posted in future updates.Thank you so much for reading my modest opinion

The Samsung Smart M7 monitor has truly transformed my work and entertainment experience. From the moment I set it up, I was captivated by its stunning display quality and sleek design.First and foremost, the display is a standout feature. The 4K resolution and vibrant colors make everything I view on it look incredibly sharp and lifelike. Whether I’m working on detailed spreadsheets, editing photos, or indulging in some high-definition entertainment, the visual clarity is consistently impressive. The integration of smart features takes this monitor to a whole new level. The built-in Tizen operating system provides easy access to a wide range of apps and services, allowing me to seamlessly switch between work and play. Whether I’m checking emails, streaming content, or even conducting video conferences, the monitor’s smart capabilities have become an integral part of my daily routine. The design of the Samsung Smart M7 is both stylish and practical. Its slim bezels and modern aesthetic complement any workspace, and the adjustable stand allows me to find the perfect viewing angle. Additionally, the inclusion of multiple ports, including HDMI and USB-C, ensures compatibility with various devices. One feature that pleasantly surprised me is the monitor’s built-in speakers. While I usually opt for external speakers for better audio quality, the M7’s speakers are surprisingly decent. They provide clear sound for casual use, eliminating the need for external speakers in most situations. In summary, the Samsung Smart M7 monitor has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its stunning display, smart features, and sleek design make it a versatile and valuable addition to any home or office. Whether you’re a professional seeking enhanced productivity or a multimedia enthusiast craving immersive experiences, this monitor delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a high-quality display with integrated smart functionality.

Lo único negativo que veo es que falla la entrada HDMI y cuesta volver a conectar para proyectar imagen, ya que lo uso como monitor. De lo demás, esta bien

I have this monitor connected to a MacPro, latest model, and it’s as good and better than the 40″ 4K Philips it replaced after 7 years of daily use. The Philips was one of the first to have large format 4K resolution, and at the time it was $1,000 CAD. The Samsung monitor is far better in regard to features and controls. And the image quality is no different, maybe a bit better because of it’s built in adjustments.I have been a Samsung fan for years, buying everything from computer parts to appliances. But I was hesitant about buying this monitor because of the low price and negative reviews about sharpness and other image quality issues, not just here but elsewhere on the web. I think most of those complaints are from people that don’t know how to go into their computer settings to make adjustments as needed. I was shocked when I got the MacOS Desktop to come up on the monitor because the image was very washed out. I went into Displays in System Preferences and unchecked a feature called “High Dynamic Range” (see attached image). I’ve never seen this before, I suspect it appears when the OS detects those capabilities in the monitor. Whatever it is I don’t know and don’t want to because it had horrible effect on the Samsung monitor.Another thing that needs to be looked at, especially for sharpness, is to check what resolution is set in Displays in System Preferences. In mine it defaulted to 1080p even though my previous monitor was 4k set at a custom resolution (see attached image). You can further fine tune how things look by using the Samsung monitor settings. However I wouldn’t fiddle with them until you exhaust all possibilities from the computer side. For example in Displays in System Preferences there is a Color tab. In there you can choose or create a custom Color Profile. If you don’t understand this, Google to watch a how to on YouTube. I changed only one setting in the Samsung controls, I set Color Tone to Cool, I found Standard had a yellowish cast.If you are running a Windows operating system you will find similar settings that need to be checked. For less than $500 I think this Samsung 43″ M70B is a steal.
